The Four Stones MAT - Information about COVID-19 Lateral Flow Testing

Testing in school

The schools in the MAT have been asked by the Department for Education to implement a testing programme for all students in Years 7 to 13 on their return to school in September 2021. We fully support the programme as we can see that it will potentially reduce the transmission of the virus. You can find out about lateral flow tests here: Understanding lateral flow testing for people without symptoms - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).

Each school will contact their parents/carers separately with arrangements for registration and consent as well as the schedule and procedures for testing. Please contact the following members of staff if you have any test related queries:

  • Haybridge High School: Katherine Elliott (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
  • King Charles I School: Jessica Hathaway (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
  • The De Montfort School: Stuart Weston (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)

There are a number of MAT-wide documents, together with some information for parents/carers and students regarding the testing process which can be found below:

Testing at home

Following successful on-site testing procedures on the return to school in September 2021, all of our students should continue to self-test at home twice a week until further notice in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in our schools. You can find out about lateral flow tests here: Understanding lateral flow testing for people without symptoms - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

NHS Test and Trace are introducing new types of test kits for at home weekly testing of staff and students. Some of these require a throat and a nasal swab, some require a nasal swab only. The instructions on how to use each of these types of self-test kits for use at home can be found in the test kit packaging.

All test results should be reported online at: http://gov.uk/report-covid19-result. Schools have also written to parents/carers with instructions on how to report results to each school.

In the case of a positive rapid lateral flow test you must inform the school immediately, as well as record the result at the link above. You will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace and advised to take a confirmatory PCR test as soon as is possible (within 2 days). You must follow the self-isolation guidance and only return to school after the correct period of self-isolation. See the latest NHS advice here When to self-isolate and what to do - Coronavirus (COVID-19) - NHS (www.nhs.uk).

IMPORTANT: You must not use a rapid lateral flow test or go to a test site if you have coronavirus symptoms. Get a PCR test and self-isolate.

Schools will continue to periodically issue self-testing kits to students; should you have any queries about self-testing kits or require please contact the relevant school office or testing coordinator:
